Doll House 'building: A Magnificent Obsession
When I was a kid, it was just after the war and equipment are scarce. He had many toys – and I do not think I've lost since I became an obsessive reader and never had his nose in a book. One exception was when I was in London with my godmother it took me to museums.
The day I saw that Great big beautiful doll house that had belonged to Queen Mary, was a milestone – one that never I have forgotten. I completely fascinated by furniture, beautifully detailed, the little people, wallpaper – all on 1 / 12 Scale. How I loved. I suppose there must be was 8 when I fell.
Then I touched my teens, got into the rock and roll (not sex and drugs for me!) Studied for my exams and I forgot of the dollhouse.
At forty, I was ready to have another chance. But this time I knew I wanted to build a dollhouse. No is a dollhouse for a dollhouse kit, but one of the plans, cutting wood and I really be in charge of all this. Let's start at the top, why no?
Why not, for I had no experience at all with the woodworking. I made clothes for me and for others the real point models complicated cross my point was the envy of friends. But that was another matter. I had the tools properly speaking, a husband-operative, which in any case was a carpenter and a burning desire to make a dollhouse.
I went to the friendly local Hardware Store with my project and explained myself. They were wonderful. I marked the size I wanted and the price of wood, and a little longer, cut off my house for me. Armed with all this and much optimism that I am back with my dolls and homemade.
I was immensely proud. I ended up with the love, the walls of wallpaper, made interior doors, painted woodwork, including baseboards (something I never do that now) and stepped back to admire it. Then I made furniture with plans for a second book and copy some of my own furniture 1 / 12 scale as the others.
When completed – Oh, maybe a year after I started – I looked again and realized how bad it was! But I have learned the skills, and knew many little things take me out the building the second building bigger and better. And it was so much bigger and better. When I saw how much better, I threw my first attempt.
A station building (built from a photograph of my own plane) and a shop to follow. Then I made a house just 1 / 24 scale that was fun and more fast, but not as good.
So is the story – until manufacturers began are wonderful kits relatively cheap doll house. At first I felt that Wold trap. When temptation I bought my first and quickly surpassed compound. Oh, how easy is to make a kit. It is the square, comes complete with all small pieces, you forget that you have need is there. So I decided to share with others. I'm not a genius, and I wanted to share my enthusiasm with other women. I came to this without any formal training, and with the advent of dollhouse kits, I knew that was enough. Thus I left the company to find a way to sell this idea to the line. This has been a real educational career, which continues. I'm not there yet, but I know that more and more each day. My website is working and now Some search engines to learn.
What I know is that women can build dollhouses, and they have – love to do. I have a small group of people I know who share my joy of it. My granddaughters love both houses and nine years, has built one with me. It's become very possessive of colors decorated, and insisted on the choice of bedroom wallpaper. I bought a wonderful CD that someone smart on eBay, with which you can print my floor (which I do on matte photo paper) and wall coverings (of the books of plain paper). So we have a wide range of documents on your computer and color printer.
Bedding and pillows are fun little projects for us, and I did (in fact) to some people return home. We have a father, mother and son. (Oh, and lots of little babies that came from eBay). That is not over yet – so the house is, but the interior there is not a strange thing, but I'm on the next task, replacement of an old house that a friend gave me.
I must admit, the store is quite complete. And I spend time, probably too into it. But what could I do? I always go to the theater, visiting family, playing piano, watching TV, reading. Other times, I work in the latest draft dollhouse. And I would not change anything. Sometimes I forget the family – you know, real things. Who cares? I work at home dolls and have a wonderful time.
